How to Showcase Your Expertise on Social Media

August 21, 2019

Demonstrate that you’re the go-to person in your field. Here are some ways you can showcase your expertise on social media.

When potential clients find you online, make it clear that you’re the expert in your industry.

Here are seven ways to showcase your expertise on social media.

1. Join Groups

Join Facebook or LinkedIn groups related to your field and answer questions.

Engage in the discussions, share tips and resources with people who want to learn more about the topic you’re a subject matter expert on. Use this time to connect with fellow peers and gain more insights and opinions about your industry.

If you’re a fan of Twitter, participate in weekly Twitter chats to move conversations forward related to your field.

2. Share Links

Share relevant articles on social networks and online forums.

It’s helpful if you offer your own opinion or insights on the topic while sharing the article.

Share a mix of your blog posts,  articles from large publications and lesser-known micro-niche sites.

3. Engage

Talk to people who leave comments in your social posts and on your website.

Don’t just be a megaphone—participate in the discussions—and use the feedback you receive in online discussions to refine your own perspective on topics.

4. Teach What You Know

Share your expertise by teaching others what you know. Share your process, a step-by-step tutorial or tools and equipment that you use.

This will provide value to others and help you distinguish yourself as an expert.

5. Get Featured

Find relevant social accounts that align with your niche and get creative!

For example, you could do an Instagram takeover, be a guest on a podcast or create a guest post on an industry site.

You could ask to be a guest on a Facebook Live topic or be a guest in a Twitter chat.

6. Show Up

The best way to showcase your expertise is to SHOW UP and be consistent. Be yourself and share what you know.

Your experiences, opinions and voice are unique to you—and that is the value that you bring to others.

Talk about what you know, share it consistently and it will build your social proof online.

7. Share the Best Content

Curate content from other people in your industry, become the go-to person in your field by sharing the most valuable, most insightful and most actionable advice.

If you enjoyed this post, I’d be very grateful if you’d help it spread by emailing it to a friend, or sharing it on Pinterest, Twitter or Facebook. Thank you!
